Rudy A Tale Of Inspiration
|
| The following is a true story of one of many reasons behind why we are so impassioned about rescuing all horses that need it: Upon returning to the ranch one day we noticed a strange addition to the hay barn. A horse stood quietly munching on a bale of hay. He had been tied to the back post in the barn and there was a letter in a plastic grocery bag that was tied to his halter. It read: "Please take my friend Rudy. He is about 22 years old and a real good horse. I am an old man on a fixed income and I can't feed him no more. And I don't have no one to help me. I heard about you on the radio KLAD.
Rudy has been my best friend for many years since my wife died. I am embarrassed and ashamed to leave him like this but I was afraid you won't want him. He needs wormed real bad and his feet are in bad shape too. I can't afford feed for him and I can't pay a vet to tend to him either. I hope he finds a good home with you folks and you don't give him to nobody else. It looks like he can make a lot of friends with all the horses you have. He is gentle and gets along with other horses real good. I will miss him very much; please tell him I love him very much and I am sorry to do this to him. I hope I don't get in no trouble for leaving him like this. Thank you and God Bless."
This owner left no name or phone number, just his best friend. We wish he would have contacted us so we could keep him posted on Rudy's well-being. If Rudy's owner should somehow access our website or if someone knows who Rudy belongs to, please pass along this message: We know how heartbreaking it must have been for you to give up your friend Rudy. He has such a sweet disposition and loves everyone. It is evident you love him very much and must miss him terribly. We know he misses you too, there have been a few times when we have noticed him standing there looking towards the hay barn, as if he is expecting you to come back for him. He has been wormed and his feet are trimmed. You will be happy to know he runs around with newfound friends and is adjusting well. Rudy can stay with us for as long as necessary. If your situation changes and you would like your friend back, please let us know. You can call us at 1-800-359-7203 or (541) 591-2172.
